What is Geothermal Energy?
Imagine using the earth to cool or heat your home in a natural and energy-efficient way. That’s what happens when you install a geothermal heating and cooling system for your home from Vogel Heating and Cooling.
How does it work?
Think of a piping system in the earth connected to your home. This underground piping system comes with different loop variations, including the vertical loop, horizontal loop, slinky loop and pond loop. These loop formations work slightly different, but all act the same. These systems transfer heat through long sets of pipes in the Earth that are filled with liquid. Since these pipes are buried far below ground they are conditioned to the temperature around them which is a cool 50 degrees year around no matter what the weather is like above ground.
With the Earth staying at a constant 50 degree temperature if you go far enough underground year around just like a cave, these conditions are perfect for producing clean energy for our homes. While the traditional air conditioners can use often loud fans to try and create cool air for your home from dry summer heat, geothermal uses the natural cool temperature of the Earth's ground to save you money.
Inside your house you will have a pump that will use refrigeration similar to what a normal air conditioner unit may use to either heat or cool the liquid in the pipes in the ground to either heat or cool your home depending on the season of the year.
